Woodstone Kitchens Project 1

The client’s brief for this project by Woodstone Kitchens was clear; they desired a versatile space accommodating a kitchen, working pantry, study, servery, and dining area, but most importantly they wanted the space to feel open and inviting. The challenge was to create five distinct zones that felt separate yet were visually unified.

This exquisite project offers a light-filled, north-facing space that seamlessly connects to the garden. To fulfil the client’s vision, four sets of full-height bi-folding and pocketing doors were strategically placed in the middle, visually separating the kitchen and dining spaces when closed. When open the left-hand set of four doors reveals the working pantry while the right-hand set of four doors reveals the study. The cooktop was positioned on the island, complete with a downdraft rangehood that raises from behind, so when cooking you have an uninterrupted view of the open garden. Ample bench space and strategically placed storage ensure all necessary items are within reach.

The selection of materials was guided by the functionality and aesthetics of the space. Because the cooktop is on the island, a Dekton bench was chosen allowing hot pans to be placed directly on the surface. The light tone and dark vein pattern add visual interest and ties into the island cabinetry’s rich dark colour, while the sink and fridge cabinetry blend seamlessly with the walls, allowing the island to take centre stage. The servery, with its dark colour palette and large storage drawers, creates a sense of balance against the open space in front.
